Allan 'Al' Gollhofer, 74, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Doug Klein will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. and following the service there will be lunch and fellowship, all at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Allan Leo Gollhofer, the son of Paul and Mary (McDermott) Gollhofer, was born on June 5, 1950, in Kingsley, Iowa. He grew up in Kingsley before moving to Le Mars. He attended school in Le Mars.

While working at the Royal Twin Theater in Le Mars, he met his future wife, Patsy Schulz. They were united in marriage on August 31, 1968, in Le Mars.

Al began working as a carpet layer for Midwest Flooring in Le Mars. He then went to work for Prudential Insurance. In 1987, he began his career as an over the road truck driver. In 2007, he and Patsy moved to Ankeny, Iowa. After their retirements in 2016, they bought a motorhome. They wintered in Mesa, Arizona and spent the summers near family. In January of 2024, they moved back to Le Mars.

In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball. When his sons got old enough, he coached them in Little League. He enjoyed taking fishing trips with his family where he was the "life" of the party! He also enjoyed playing cards with his family, listening to country music, and woodworking. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy of Le Mars; a son, Kevin (Maria Murillo) Gollhofer of Des Moines, IA; a son, Brad Gollhofer (Tracy Stokes) of Newton, IA; a son, Josh (Autumn) Gollhofer of North Las Vegas, NV; his grandchildren: Patrick (Hannah) Gollhofer of Kalona, IA, and their son to be born in October; Kelsy Gollhofer of Minneapolis, MN; Vincent Gollhofer of Sioux Falls, SD; and Alyssa (Tanner) Wisely of Germany, and their children, Reagan and Nova; his mother-in-law, Fern Schulz of Le Mars; his siblings: Rhonda (Gary) Bohnenkamp of Remsen, IA, Marsha Geier of Sioux Falls, SD, Renee (Doug) DeHaan of Le Mars, IA, Denise Gollhofer and her special friend Joel Ellensohn of Le Mars, IA, and Melissa (Ryan) Jaqua of Sioux Falls, SD; his in laws, Susan (Dave) Moller of Craig, IA, and Rhonda (Larry) Bowers of Lakeland, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Gollhofer; his father-in-law, Lowell Schulz; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Asseln; and a nephew, Matthew DeHaan.

Pallbearers will his grandchildren: Patrick, Kelsy, Vincent, and Alyssa; and Dawson Harpenau, Keaton Harpenau, Wesley Smart, and Austin Sejnoha.
