Allene "Ali" Schreuder , 86, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Parish Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
Allene Kathryn Roemen was born July 6, 1933 in Larchwood, Iowa, the daughter of William and Edna (Hamann) Roemen. She attended school in Larchwood and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School. She began college at Briar Cliff in Sioux City before transferring to Augustana College in Sioux Falls, where she received her B.S. Allene began teaching in Northwest Iowa. Later, she furthered her education at Augustana and received her M.A.
She was united in marriage to Albert "Bud" Schreuder on June 6, 1970 in Canton, South Dakota. They moved and lived in several communities for Bud's job. Allene continued teaching. In 1986, they settled in Le Mars, Iowa. Following her retirement, Allene worked as a bartender for the American Legion in Le Mars. Bud passed away June 18, 1994.
Allene was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. She was also a longtime member of the Wasmer American Legion Post 241 Auxiliary. Over the years, she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and collecting angels.
Survivors include her 3 sisters: Glorianne Reiter of Sioux Falls, SD, Carol Rutten of Le Mars, IA, and Mary Lynn (Stephan) King of Colorado Springs, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Roemen; her husband, Albert "Bud" Schreuder; and a sister, Rosalie Bulkley.
