Amber Mae (Hensel) Boettcher, 75 of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Accura HealthCare of Sioux City.

A Memorial Service will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2021 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Akron, Iowa (601 Torbert Blvd). Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Amber Mae Hensel was born on August 19, 1945 to William and Anna (Reisen) Hensel in Hinton, Iowa. Amber was raised on their farm in rural Hinton and attended school in Hinton. She graduated high school in 1963 and then attended nursing school in Sioux City. Amber was united in marriage to Lawrence LeClair Sr in 1965 at St. Jean's Catholic Church in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City and had three children: Larry, Sherri, and Jerry. Amber worked at various nursing homes in the Sioux City area while also raising their children.  Amber and Lawrence later divorced. Amber was united in marriage to Dan Boettcher in 1993 and they moved to rural Hinton. They later lived in Akron and then Chatsworth. Dan passed away September 10, 2010. Amber then lived in Hawarden and Ridgewood Apartments in Akron before moving into Accura HealthCare in Sioux City.

Amber will be remembered as someone who loved life. Amber loved being outdoors; she loved to garden and always enjoyed working in her garden. She grew flowers and many different vegetables, which she would can. She loved cooking, baking, and going to rummage sales. She had a beloved dog named Harley and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Amber is survived by her son, Larry (Rhonda) LeClair of Sioux City; her daughter: Sherri (Bryan) Hays of Sioux City; grandchildren: Larry (Shannon) LeClair III, Miranda LeClair, Tasha (Javonne) James, TJ (Kristen) Limoges, and Mariah LeClair; great grandchildren: Becca, Talia, Jersey, and Bentley; brother, William 'Buddy' Hensel; sister in law, Donna Hensel; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Amber is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dan Boettcher; son, Jerald 'Jerry' Joseph LeClair; grandsons: Daniel Weikart and Jerald Joseph 'JJ' Jr; brother, Jim Hensel; and sister, Charlene (Jim) Iverson.
