Arden J. Gale, 93 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at All Saints Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars with Reverend Doug Klein officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday morning.
Arrangements are with Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
Arden James Gale was born on April 3, 1933 to Earl and Anna (Harms) Gale in Akron, Iowa. He was raised in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1952. Arden enlisted in the United States Army in 1954. Arden served just following the Korean Conflict and was assigned in the adjutant general’s court where he audited court martial proceedings. After he was honorably discharged in 1956, he transferred to the Army Reserves and attended the University of Iowa where he graduated with a history degree. Arden then began a 39 year career with the Department of Veteran Affairs where he worked in the research and development in prosthetics. After he retired, he returned to Akron.
Arden was a proud veteran and patriot. He was actively involved in the Albert E. Hoschler American Legion Post 186 in Akron where he served in every officer position possible.
Arden lived with his sister LaVada in Akron until they became residents at Hillcrest Health Care in Hawarden in 2021.
Survivors include 3 nephews: Michael Gale of Whiting, IA, Kelly Gale of Irene, SD, and Kevin Gale of Irene, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Earl and Anna Gale (Harms) his brother and his wife, Jack (Betty) Gale; his sister LaVada Gale and half sister, Dorothy Gale; and a nephew, Patrick Gale.
