Arlene Ann Allison was born on September 1, 1933 in Neptune, rural Hinton, Iowa to Arthur and Marguerite (Britt) Allison. She attended grade school in Neptune and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Le Mars in 1951. Arlene worked at Vander Meer Bakery in Le Mars for a short time after graduation.

Arlene was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Bernard 'Ben' Erdmann on November 26, 1952 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Neptune. He was the love of her life. They made their home in Le Mars where they raised their 9 children. Her family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed cooking and baking for them and was excellent at both! She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Along with her family being important, so was her faith. She prayed the Rosary every day, was an active member at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars and was a member of Catholic Daughters.

Arlene enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and pinocle, and played in several different card clubs. She also loved Saturday date nights with Bernard when they would go out dancing.
