Ashley Holtgrewe , 33, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Reverend Travis Crotty will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Church – St. Joseph Church. There will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for her children's education fund.
Ashley Scott Kennedy was born on October 9, 1987 in Mesa, Arizona to Scott and Mary Ann (Ruba) Kennedy. She attended school in Chandler, Arizona and graduated from Basha High School in 2006. She then went on to receive a degree in early childhood development from Chandler Gilbert Community College. Ashley moved to Le Mars in 2010 and worked for the Pride Group in Le Mars. Ashley was united in marriage to Zach Holtgrewe on July 1, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars and they made their home in Le Mars. Ashley was a loving wife and wonderful mother to their three daughters: Haley, Gracie, and Lennox.
Ashley was a member of All Saints Parish in Le Mars and the Le Mars Community School PTO. She enjoyed working with children and loved to go shopping. In January 2019, Ashley was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought her battle bravely with the motto "Be Strong"!
Ashley is survived by her husband, Zach Holtgrewe and their three daughters: Haley, Gracie, and Lennox all of Le Mars; parents, Scott and Mary Ann Kennedy of Chandler, Arizona; siblings: Tyler Kennedy of Chandler, Arizona and his son, Brennan , Kari Ann (AJ) Swanson and their daughters Kinley and Adley of Florence, Arizona, and Courtney Kennedy of Chandler, Arizona; parents in law, John and Nancy Holtgrewe of Le Mars; maternal grandmother in law, Marjorie Livermore; siblings in law: Allison (Matt) Bixenman of Rock Rapids, IA and their children Blakely, Teagan, and Jiles, Kayla (Tyler) Hatch of Sioux City, IA , and Emily (Jesse) Lalumendre of Le Mars, IA ; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended relatives.
Ashley is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James and Dorothy Ruba; paternal grandparents, Samuel and Beverly Kennedy; maternal grandparents in law, Burdette and Gracie Holtgrewe; paternal grandfather in law, O.H. Livermore; and two children in infancy
