Avonelle 'Ava' Sargent, 92 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the Akron Care Center due to complications of a stroke.

Visitation with the family present will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m., with a Time of Remembrance at 2:30 p.m., all on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. A private family burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Avonelle 'Ava' Carrie Lilly was born on August 29, 1930 to Bard and Viola (McDougall) Lilly in Westfield, Iowa.  She graduated from Westfield High School. She was baptized and confirmed at the Westfield Congregational Church. Ava was united in marriage to Robert 'Bob' Sargent on December 1, 1947. Bob passed away in 1978.

Ava worked for many years for the Woodbury County Courthouse in the motor vehicle department. After retirement, she spent many winters in Arizona with her friend, Art Coon. She spent several years living in Akron before moving to Sioux City.

Ava enjoyed spending time with her friends and was an animal lover; she enjoyed her dogs over the years. She also enjoyed her time at Lake Okoboji and her trips to Branson, MO.

Ava is survived by her three daughters: Linda Murkins of Sioux City, Bobbi Dupree of Houston, Texas, and Danna Barnes of St. Paul, Minnesota; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; her adopted daughter, Nancy Ruhland and her three sons and six grandchildren; and her dear friend, Dennis Wilken of Akron.

Ava is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; son in law, Keith Murkins; and dear friends: Lorna Whiting and Lauris Dudgeon.
