Bernard "Corky" Harold Hansen , age 80, of Rockwall, TX, formerly of Rapid City, SD and McCook Lake, SD, passed away on October 10, 2019 following a long illness.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Hillside Cemetery in Merrill, Iowa. Pastor Jeff Swanson of St. John's Lutheran Church in Merrill will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Oleson-Halweg American Legion Post 125 of Merrill. Local arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. He was born November 21, 1938, in Akron, IA, to Raymond and Arlene Hansen. Bernard was a special education teacher and he served his country in the U.S. Navy. He had a big heart and loved working with children. He will be deeply missed by everyone that helped him.

Bernard is survived by his daughter: Kristine Hansen; sons: Matthew Hansen and wife Krystal, Todd Hansen, and Mike Hansen; stepson: Dan Chipman and wife, Robin; daughter-in-law: Judy Lamp; grandchildren: Sarah Chipman, Natalia Campbell, Paisley Hansen, Stella Hansen, Kaylee, Hansen, and Aaron Hansen; great-grandson: Elias; sisters: Lanice "Fritz" Archer, and Dee Stienlicht and husband Willie; and brother: Marlin "Punk" Hansen and wife Marilyn.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Penelope (Peterson) Hansen; and his parents.
