Obituary

Bonnie Lang , 88, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Park Place Estates in Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church, L.C.M.S. in Le Mars. Reverend Tim Geitz will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation with the family present will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Bonnie Mae Jensen was born September 19, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Julius and Elsie (Dahlman) Jensen. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton, Iowa, and later confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Leeds. She attended school in Hinton and graduated from Hinton High School. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City where she received her teaching certificate. She taught country school near Hinton for one year, where she had students in grades 1-8.

She was united in marriage to Maynard Lang on February 26, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. Early on, she was a homemaker for her family. After making their home near Hinton and other communities, they settled in Le Mars in the Fall of 1971. After her children got older, she went to work for various businesses in Le Mars. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary for Le Mars Community Schools. After being stricken by A.L.S., she and Maynard moved in March of 2019 to Park Place Estates in Le Mars.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars where she was active in the L.W.M.L. for many years. She also volunteered with many events at the church. She enjoyed camping and baking cookies. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of over 70 years, Maynard of Le Mars; 3 children: Vicki (Wayne) Buck of Poinciana, FL, Cheryl (Dan) Cronin of Le Mars, IA, and Kevin Lang (Amber Thelen and her children, Aaron and Aiden) of Estherville, IA; 4 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Lori) Buck and their children, Whitson, Langley, and Larsen; Crystal (Derek) Oglesby and their children, Joshua and Caleb; Keith (Ashley) Cronin; and Kari (Shane) Wallace and their children, William and Clara; her brother: Lyle (Gwen) Jensen of Lexington, KY; her in laws: Maycele Heimgartner of Le Mars, IA and Cecil (Carol) Lang of Hinton, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Elsie Jensen; her father and mother in law: Chris and Clara Lang; 2 sisters: Marilyn (Ralph) Moore and Kathy Jensen; and in laws: Elroy Heimgartner and Wesley Deirking.
