Bruce Dutcher, 75 of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Rock Solid Assembly Church in Le Mars with Pastor Dan Krause officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page: Rock Solid. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Bruce Marvin Dutcher was born on January 22, 1945 in Charleston, South Carolina to John Lawrence and Mary Ann (Ambos) Dutcher. Their family moved to Des Moines, Iowa where Bruce spent his childhood years. He attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1963. He then began working full time for his father who owned Dutcher and Sons Stockyard in Des Moines. Bruce later went to the University of Iowa where he graduated in 1981 with a degree as a pharmacist. He worked in a few different communities before moving to Sioux City where he worked for Soo Thrifty Drug Store. Bruce then moved to Le Mars where he began working at Le Mars Family Pharmacy. He later worked for a short time at both Hy Vee and Wal Mart pharmacies. He returned to Le Mars Family Pharmacy for a few more years before officially retiring.

Bruce was united in marriage to Betty Lou Hair on October 14, 1995 at Temple Baptist Church in Sioux City, Iowa.

Bruce was a lifelong and talented musician. At a young age, he was in the school marching band and was in a jazz band. He was able to play many different instruments: trombone, piano, and ukulele.  He and Betty loved attending music festivals and square-dancing festivals. Bruce was also a caller for square-dances.  Bruce enjoyed playing and singing wherever he could, including the Tuesday Jam Sessions at Lally's in Le Mars.

Bruce was a long-time member of Rock Solid Assembly in Le Mars where he was an active member; he was on the Mission Committee and was a church board member. He was also a member of the Le Mars Gideons International, a SHIP Representative, and was a volunteer for the Plymouth County Drug Court Committee. Bruce and Betty enjoyed traveling; they went on a mission trip to Haiti in 2015 and took a trip together to Hawaii. They also traveled all over the United States: New Mexico, Georgia, Florida, Minnesota, and North Carolina, to visit family.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 25 years, Betty Dutcher; daughters: Andrea (Michael) Dutcher Capizzi, Renee (Robby) Tatum, and Hilary Dutcher; step children: Kathy (Ron) Frazer, Kevin Jackson (significant other, Wendy), Rebecca Recker (significant other, Justin), and Todd Jackson (significant other, Julie); 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters: Barbara Dutcher and Nancy (Steve Cahn) Dutcher; life long friend, Brad Jackson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Krystal Frazer; and great granddaughter, Nadia Hammers.
