CandyJo "Rollins" Horn was born on May 19, 1962 to Frank and Sally (Starkman) Rollins in Akron, Iowa. She was raised in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1980. Candy was previously married and they had one son, Timothy, who passed away. They later divorced.  Candy worked various jobs including waitressing, making doughnuts at Casey's and childcare. Candy worked for many years with her mom, Sally, providing childcare in Akron and later Hawarden.  Candy was united in marriage to Kevin Horn on July 31, 1993 and they made their home on Kevin's farm. When their youngest child Aaron was born, Candy retired to become his fulltime caretaker.

Family was the most important thing in the world to Candy. She lived to take care of her children and grandchildren, especially Aaron who needed fulltime care. She was always coordinating family parties and holiday events. She was an amazing cook and baker; no one left her home hungry. She loved putting others first and would do whatever she could for anyone who needed help.  She would help Kevin with field work and volunteered to be a Girl Scout Leader for her daughters' troop.

Candy also enjoyed playing bingo and putting together puzzles. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Akron.  She loved their family pets, Daisey (dog) and Hamburger (cow). She also helped at the Hole N' The Wall with scheduling and coordinating hunting events.

Candy is survived by her husband, Kevin; children: Jamie (Krista) VanderHelm of Akron, Kelvin (Missy) Horn of Akron, Justin (Geralynn) Horn of Wisconsin, Abby Horn of Sioux City, and Angela Horn (Adam Ostermyer) of Akron; 12 grandchildren: Peyton, Ellie, Alan, Maverick, Schon, Olivia, Andrew, Tysen, Sadie, Skyler, Kashe, and Myles; siblings: Corrine Hemmelman of Salem, South Dakota, Debra (David) Small of Brunsville, Iowa, and Lisa (Randy) Clarey of Akron; father in law, Cecil Horn of Sioux City; siblings in law: Debra Horn, Keith (Amy) Horn, and Kerry Horn, all of Sioux City; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Candy is preceded in death by her parents; mother in law, Betty Horn; children: Timothy Langley and Aaron Horn; brother, Frankie Rollins; and nephew, Jason Andersen.
