He was united in marriage to Diane Klein on August 11, 1979, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. To this union, 3 children were born: Aaron, Amber, and Mason.
Carl loved outdoor activities of playing golf, gardening, and riding his bicycle with family and friends. He participated in R.A.G.B.R.A.I. for many years being part of "Team Pink Floyd". Carl enjoyed tinkering in his shop fixing and repairing just about anything, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. When his kids were younger, he enjoyed taking them to cattle sales.
