Carla Sue Jenness, 73, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Reverend Mike McInnis from LifeConnection Global Methodist Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from noon until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made to Wet-Nose Rescue in Le Mars.

Carla Sue Wilde, the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Colburn) Wilde, was born on December 25, 1952, in Le Mars, Iowa. Her family celebrated her Christmas day birth and always sang happy birthday to Jesus first. She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1971. She furthered her education at Westmar College in Le Mars. Over one summer, she traveled to Europe with the Westmar Choral. She remained in Austria and spent the summer at the Graz International Study Center. She graduated from Westmar College in 1975.

Carla Sue taught music, band, and chorus at both Gehlen Catholic in Le Mars and St. Mary's in Remsen. During her retirement years, she worked parttime at Walmart in Le Mars.

She was united in marriage to Marlin Jenness on February 16, 1991, at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. Marlin passed away on April 30, 2006.

Church and faith were of utmost importance to her. Music was an integral part of her life, both vocally and instrumentally. Carla Sue was a church organist for both St. Joseph Catholic Church and Methodist Church of Le Mars. She was honored by American Guild of Organists. She and her mother owned hundreds of collectable dolls. She was also a member of doll club. She was also a member of Iowa Gamma Chapter of Alpha Chi. Carla Sue loved her pets and trained dogs for 4-H. She was a supporter of Wet-Nose Rescue in Le Mars.

Survivors include her cousins: Russell Colburn, Ted Colburn, Sally Vreugdenhil, Mary Lou Pederson, Marty (Michelle) Morehead, and Roxane (Craig) Anderson; and several stepchildren and step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ruth Wilde; and her husband, Marlin Jenness.
