Chad Eugene McCollum, age 55, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on March 27, 2026.

Chad was born on September 4, 1970, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from Manning High School in 1989. Throughout much of his life, Chad worked as a truck driver, hauling a variety of loads including grain, cattle, boat trailers, and refrigerated freight. He was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to do whatever was needed.

Chad enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved riding motorcycles, camping, grilling and smoking food, and cheering on Nebraska Cornhuskers football. He also enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places. Above all, Chad cherished the time he spent with his family.

He took great joy in being with his grandchildren—attending their sporting events, celebrating birthdays, and enjoying their laughter. Chad also loved spending time with his dogs, Capone, Sammy Jo, Harley Rae, Cain, and Rollo, who were a special part of his life.

Chad was preceded in death by his father, Steve McCollum, and his grandparents.

He is survived by his son, Jacob (Paige) McCollum; three grandchildren, Maize Grace, Moxon Steven, and Marlowe Ember; his mother, Linda McCollum; his sister, Mandy (Bill) Lawler; his brother, Jeramy McCollum; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Chad will be remembered for his love of family, his hardworking nature, and the joy he found in life's simple moments. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
