Cheryl Palmer, 66 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2024 at All Saints Parish – St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. beginning with a Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m. all on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
Cheryl Renee Thelen was born on January 13, 1958 in Le Mars, Iowa to James and Agnes (Geary) Thelen. She was raised in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1976. She was united in marriage to Donald Palmer on September 11, 1976 at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. They made their home in Le Mars and they had three children: Andy, Erin, and Evan. Cheryl primarily stayed home raising their children but worked a few various jobs over the years. She worked for 9 years as a preschool teacher, 10 years at Plymouth County Senior Help Mates, and a few occasional part-time jobs.
Cheryl was a long-time member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a voracious reader. She loved to cook and bake, which she learned from her maternal grandmother. Her favorite time was spent spoiling her grandchildren. Cheryl was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need.
Cheryl is survived by her husband of 48 years, Don; children: Andy (Angie) Palmer, Erin Palmer, and Evan (Heather) Palmer; four grandchildren: Kaylee Palmer, Tysen Palmer, Chloe Palmer, and Dominick Palmer; mother, Agnes 'Aggie' Thelen; brother, Barry (Brenda) Thelen; sister, Pam (Scott) Jacobsen; brothers in law, Gary Pecks, Dave (Marilyn) Palmer, and Dean (Gail) Palmer; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, James Thelen; parents in law, Donald and Janice (Hill) Palmer; and sister, Rochelle Pecks.
