Cletus Sitzmann, 84, of rural Kingsley, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the peaceful setting of his home supported by loved ones.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at All Saints Catholic Parish - St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Doug Klein will celebrate Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday and following the service during a time of lunch and fellowship, all at the church. Cletus Alfred Sitzmann, the son of Raymond and Leona (Nuebel) Sitzmann, was born on April 15, 1941, in Plymouth County, Iowa. He attended country school in Plymouth Country and later at Gehlen Catholic in Le Mars. Following the sudden death of his father in February of 1956; Cletus, at the age of fourteen was thrust into the role of adult responsibilities, and helped take over the family farming operations. This began his career in farming that spanned more than 50 years.

He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Forney on November 18, 1961, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Leeds. They made their home on a farm near Kingsley, Iowa. Cletus farmed and raised hogs for many years. Barbara passed away on November 27, 2001.

He was united in marriage to Sharon Osterbuhr Schroeder on July 17, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. They made their home on the same farm near Kingsley. Cletus retired from farming in 2011.

He was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars and the Knights of Columbus in Le Mars. He was also a former member of the Le Mars Elks Club. Over the years, Cletus enjoyed many travels with family. He stayed active playing tennis, golf, and ping pong. He also enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, and dancing. Cletus will be remembered by many as the "Joker". He would always start his conversations with friends, family, and even strangers with a joke!

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Kingsley, IA; 6 children: Shelly (Jerome) Loutsch of Hinton, IA, Lisa (Jeff) Tritch of Chanhassen, MN, Dennis (Kim) Sitzmann of Madison, GA, Chris Sitzmann of Sioux City, IA, Dan (Cheryl) Sitzmann of Sioux City, IA, and Nick (Tessa) Sitzmann of Athens, GA; 7 step children: Shelley (Steve) Ruden of Remsen, IA; Brenda Schroeder of Le Mars, IA, Paul Schroeder of Sioux Falls, SD, Preston (Tanya) Schroeder of Le Mars, IA, Jesse Schroeder of Le Mars, IA, Nathan (Lindsey) Schroeder of Le Mars, IA, and Natalie (Jason) Bohnenkamp of Ankeny, IA; 16 grandchildren; 27 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren. His siblings: Mary Ann Krogman, Kathleen (Bob) Shaw, Fred (Susie) Sitzmann, Steve Sitzmann, and Kevin (JoAnn) Sitzmann. His in laws: Mark Schroeder, Jolynn Sitzmann, Ashley Osterbuhr, Linda (Ken) King, Nancy Osterbuhr, Terry Moore, and Byron Osterbuhr; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Jean Sitzmann; his siblings: Gerald Sitzmann, Jeanette Schroeder, and Leon Sitzmann. His in laws: Delores Sitzmann, Kathy Sitzmann, Don Krogman, Doug Osterbuhr, and Bruce Moore; and his step grandson, Tanner Smith.
