Colleen Ann Clay, 63 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Monday,  April 27, 2026 at her home.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. A reception for family and friends will be hosted at her daughter's home following the service. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Colleen Ann Clay was born on May 15, 1962 in Baldwin Park, California to Alan Clay and Marlene Ann (Rosenbaum) Evans. She lived in California until about the age of 10. She moved around with her family across the United States during the next few years; she graduated from high school in Beaverton, Oregon. Colleen continued to explore and make new memories across the states. Her first two children, Ashley and Brad, were born while she lived in Louisiana. She eventually moved to Elk Point, South Dakota where she welcomed her final two children, Nick and Lucy.  Their family finally ended up making their home in Akron, Iowa.

Colleen lived her life on her own terms; she was a free spirit who enjoyed spending time in nature. She loved fishing, especially along the Big Sioux River. She liked working in the yard, tending to plants and flowers. She loved to propagate her plants and care for new growth. She also loved to ride her bicycle around town.

Colleen was raised in the Lutheran faith and while she didn't always continue with an organized church, she had a strong faith. She had a personal relationship with God and would find comfort in reading her bible.

Colleen had a fierce and deep love for her children; she filled both 'Mom' and 'Dad' roles for her family. She had a generous spirit, giving to others who were in need even if she would then go without.

Colleen is survived by her daughters: Ashley Arens and Lucy Clay, both of Akron, Iowa; grandchildren: Chloe, Noah, Delilah, Zone Bradley, Oliver, Lillian, and Allen Bradley Jr; great granddaughter, Ellie; her mother, Marlene Evans of Hawarden, Iowa; her sister, Michelle Clay of Cincinnati, Ohio; and many other extended relatives.

Colleen is preceded in death by her father, Alan Clay; sons: Allen Bradley Sr and Nicholas Clay; and her brother, Kevin Clay.
