Colton Ray Tapper, 3-month-old son of Michael Tapper and Dawn Tapper, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church – Ellendale, rural Merrill, Iowa. Father Doug Klein will celebrate Mass. Interment will be at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery – Ellendale, rural Merrill. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Colton Ray Tapper was born on March 18, 2025 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Michael Tapper and Dawn (Toel) Tapper.

Survivors include his parents: Michael Tapper (Ashley Wright) of Le Mars, IA, and Dawn Tapper (Jon Burkholder) of Boyden, IA; a sister, Carra Tapper at home; grandparents: Gaylen and Mary Jane Tapper of Akron, IA, and Dennis and Desiree Toel of Le Mars, IA; his uncles and aunt: Darrick Toel (Chasity Wrolson) of Sergeant Bluff, IA, and TJ (Madi) Tapper of Akron, IA; cousins: Alexus DeVall, Ashton DeVall, Chloe DeVall, William Tapper, and Olivia Tapper; and great aunts and great uncles.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents: Raymond and Arlene Tapper, Theodore and Colette Schiefen, Louis and Louise Toel, Marlene and Cecil Staebell, and Varrel Popken.
