Cynthia Arens, 69 of Chatsworth, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026 at her home surrounded by family.

Cynthia Susan Haneklaus was born on January 21, 1957 in Sioux City, Iowa to Henry and Frances Haneklaus. She grew up living in Sioux City and South Sioux City. She was raised in the Catholic faith.

Cindy began working at Aalfs and later worked at a meat packing plant in Sioux City. It was at work that she met the love of her life, Gregory Arens. They were united in marriage on July 10, 1993. They first lived in Sioux City and moved to Chatsworth in 2010.

Cindy enjoyed listening to music and watching Ice Road Trucking. She loved to spend time outdoors, especially fishing. Cindy enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flower beds. They enjoyed traveling to visit family and celebrate holidays together.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Greg; two sons: Nick (Macy) Vaul of Dakota Dunes and Eli Vaul of Chatsworth; granddaughter, Grace; nephews: Billy, Jimmy, Steve, and Raymond Haneklaus; and many other extended relatives.

Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Frances Haneklaus; parents in law, James and Lois Arens; and brother, Raymond (Sue) Haneklaus.
