Dallas Duane Wilken was born January 27, 1942 in Union County, South Dakota, the son of George and Elvera (Marple) Wilken. He attended country school in Union County and graduated from Canton Academy in Canton, South Dakota. Following high school, he began farming with his father.

He was united in marriage to Clarice Rolfes on October 21, 1967 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron.

Dallas enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 1963. He was honorably discharged in December of 1969.

Dallas was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. Dallas farmed his entire life, and it was one of the things he loved the most! He taught his family the value of hard work. Dallas loved when his kids (and later his grandkids) wanted to ride with him in the truck or tractor and help with chores. While he loved farming and all it brought to his life, he also valued and loved his family. He modeled what it meant to be there for each other as he loved to watch his son coach and attend his grandchildren's activities. He also enjoyed playing cards, watching western movies, and reading the newspaper.

Survivors include his wife of over 54 years, Clarice of Akron; 4 children and their families: a son, Brian (Pam) Wilken of Newell, IA and their children, Jordan, Peyton, Camryn, Beau, and Broc; a son, Craig (Tina) Wilken of Akron and their children, Hailey and Carter; a daughter, Angela (Shawn) Olsen of Spirit Lake, IA and their children, Kyler and Karli; and a son, Tim (Amy) Wilken of Akron and their children, Taryn, Tatum, and Tayvn; his sister: Illabelle Bong of Fort Payne, AL; his in laws: Gene (Bernie) Rolfes of Phoenix, AZ, Ruth Phelps of Atlanta, GA, Paula Winker (Bob) Tata of Celebration, FL, Stan (Linda) Rolfes of Akron, and Pat Christensen of Marshalltown, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Frank and Ida Rolfes; and numerous brothers and sisters in law.
