Dan Cronin , 65, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at his home near Le Mars.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, private family Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa. The services will be webcasted and uploaded to the funeral home's website following the service. Reverend William McCarthy and Reverend Tim Hogan will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Oyens. Visitation with the family present, at a time practicing social distancing and wearing a mask, will be on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Daniel Paul Cronin was born July 31, 1954 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Robert and Paula (Kunkel) Cronin. He attended grade school at St. Catherine's Catholic School in Oyens and high school in Le Mars. He graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1972. Following high school, he attended Iowa Lakes Community College where received his associate degree in Agronomy.

He was united in marriage to Cheryl Lang on September 3, 1977 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars.

Dan worked for a short time at Simonsen's in Le Mars before he began farming with his dad and brother Steve. They farmed in the Le Mars and Oyens area and raised hogs. He also worked part time for Kolbeck Inc and helped finish hog confinements for Nelson Electric.

Dan served on Oyens Fire Department for several years. In 2003, he earned his EMT-B license and began helping with the Oyens Ambulance. In 2008, he received his Paramedic license. He continued with the ambulance service, most recently serving as its director until his retirement in May of 2020.

Dan was a lifetime member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens. He was also a member of the St. Catherine's Columbus Club for many years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and campfires. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. Most of all, he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl of Le Mars, IA; a son: Keith (Ashley) Cronin of Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter: Kari (Shane) Wallace of Mankato, MN, and their children, William, Clara, and Anna; his siblings: Dave (Karen) Cronin of Lincoln, NE, Kathy Kruger of Le Mars, IA, and Steve (Paula) of Le Mars, IA; his father in law: Maynard Lang of Le Mars; his in laws: Vicki (Wayne) Buck of Poinciana, FL and Kevin Lang (Amber Thelen) of Estherville, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Paula Cronin; his mother in law, Bonnie Lang; his brother, Richard Cronin; and his grandparents: Dan and Clara Cronin and Andrew and Rose Kunkel.
