Daniel Lang , 75 of Merrill, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Bickford Assisted Senior Living in Sioux City, Iowa.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family graveside service will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hinton, Iowa with Pastor Steve Stoll officiating.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Daniel Donald Lang was born on March 15, 1945 in Le Mars, Iowa to Harold and Louise (Schoenrock) Lang and was raised on their family farm in rural Le Mars, Iowa. He attended the Le Mars public schools and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1963. Dan then attended Iowa State University and while going to school for a degree in engineering, he was simultaneously working at John Deere. After graduation he lived in Dubuque, Iowa and continued working for John Deere. In his younger years, Dan loved to snow ski. Dan later joined the Navy and was stationed in Subic Bay in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged after three years and returned to working at John Deere. Dan eventually moved back to Northwest Iowa and began farming full time with his brother, Kendall, on the family farm.

Dan was a member of the Oleson-Halweg Post 125 in Merrill, Iowa and was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Hinton, Iowa.

Dan is survived by his brothers: Kendall Lang and David Lang, both of rural Le Mars, Iowa; four nieces: Nancy, Niki, Natalie, and Noelle; and many other extended relatives.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Neva (Noel) Fries.
