David Earl 'Bud' Lias, 86 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at UnityPoint – St Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa. He was surrounded by family.

Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery where Bud will be buried with his wife, Mary and son, Kevin.

Bud was born on January 8, 1934 on the Lias family farm south of Akron to Eugene Henderson Lias and Florence Bernice (Rhodes) Lias. He graduated from Akron High School and was a lifelong resident of Akron. Bud was united in marriage to Mary Grace (Bakker) McGinnis. Bud was a truck driver for many years until he retired. He drove for Caskey Lumber, Heyl Truck Lines, Warren Truck Lines, and David E. Lias Trucking.

Bud was well known for his fun-loving sociability! He was always quick witted with his humor and was a natural storyteller. He loved watching racing and used to race himself at Thunder Valley Dragway in Marion, SD. He enjoyed racing history, WWII history and other military history. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and got a kick out of feeding and watching the squirrels in his yard. Bud was also a longtime fan of the Green Bay Packers.

Bud is survived by his children: Jack (Lois) McGinnis of Berthoud, CO, Lois (Jerry) Rhodes-Mahoney of Lincoln, NE, Ed McGinnis of Akron, and Mark (Laura) McGinnis of Columbus, NE; daughter in law, Nancy McGinnis of Akron; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Kimberly (Greg) Riss and their child, Taylor; Jenna (Brandon) Sais and their children, Savannah and Sterling; Corey (Angie) Rhodes and their children: Leksi and Zoe; Cameron (Miranda) Rhodes and their children: Spencer and Rachel; Marisa (Robert) Engels; Chelsea McGinnis; Bobbi Jo McGinnis; Mark Jr. (Beth) McGinnis and their children: Jack, Sophie, and Mike; Rory (Alicia) McGinnis and their children Landon, Aden, and Falyn; Tanya Jackson and her children: Traevon and Tyree; and Bobby Carson; sister, Ruth Lowery; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lias; siblings: Bob (Margaret) Lias, Lorraine (Paul) Bauch, and Harvey (Lois) Lias; son, Kevin McGinnis; son in law, Jim Rhodes; and grandson in law, James Jackson.
