David McFarland, 65 of rural Akron, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at his home.

David Lee McFarland was born on June 12, 1955 to Harry D. McFarland and Shirley P. Barnhardt in Chariton, Iowa. David lived in Sioux City for the majority of his life before moving to rural Akron. David loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Sylvia and Elizabeth. They often went fishing; Sylvia would spend the summers living with David and they loved to go camping.  David loved living on the farm; he enjoyed the peace and quiet. He spent a lot of time outdoors and working in the yard and garden. He also liked playing video games. He also did all these hobbies with his fiancé, Vicki Norton.  David and Vicki had been together for many years and she cared for him through his illness.

David is survived by his fiancé, Vicki Norton; daughter, Stacy (boyfriend, Pat Van Fossen) McFarland; stepson, Jimmy Solomon; three grandchildren: Kyle McFarland, Elizabeth Gonzalez, and Sylvia Gonzalez; brother, Paul (Ginny) McFarland; four great grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

David is preceded in death by his father, Harry D. McFarland; mother and stepfather, Shirley and Ray Waag.
