David Rozell, 73 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2024 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron with Pastor Eric Alm officiating. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. David Frederick Rozell was born on January 5, 1951 in Akron to Arlo and Wilma (Reemts) Rozell. He grew up in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1969. He then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College from 1969-1971 for auto body repair. Dave opened his own shop in 1972 in Akron in his Grandma Reemts' garage. A year later, he began renting a larger shop from Heyl and in 1974 he bought his own shop where he was until he retired.

Dave was united in marriage to Suzie Swift on January 6, 1982 in Elk Point, SD. They made their home in Akron and had two sons: Joshua and Jeffrey. Dave was so proud of his sons who blessed him with five delightful grandchildren. He adored spending time with his grandchildren.

In his younger days, Dave enjoyed drag racing. Dave was also a volunteer firefighter for Akron. He was a long-time member of Immanual Lutheran Church in Akron where he was often volunteering and helping with communion. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football and cheering on the Packers and 49ers. He had such a sweet tooth and always wanted a piece of candy, cookie, or Twin Bing to go along with his coffee.

Dave is survived by his wife of 42 years, Suzie Rozell; two sons: Joshua (Michele) Rozell and their son, Tyler, and Jeffrey Rozell and his children: Layla, Kenli, Will, and Max, all of Akron, Iowa; siblings in law: Al Hoepner of Hancock, IA, Buck (Elaine) Swift of Akron, and Sally (Tom) Miller of Akron; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Hoepner; and brother, Dennis Rozell.
