Dennis Masuen, 86, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home in Le Mars surrounded by his family.

Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Rejoice! Community Church in Le Mars. Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will follow the Celebration of Life Service during a time of refreshments and fellowship at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be directed to the family.

Dennis Lee Masuen, the son of Lawrence and Edith (Trafford) Masuen, was born on November 18, 1939, in Oyens, Iowa. He attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School. He attended trade school in Sioux Falls where he received his degree in refrigeration and air conditioning.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Ruether on June 27, 1959, in Larchwood, Iowa. They made their home in Le Mars.  Patricia passed away on July 18, 2024.

Dennis began working as a technician for McCormick Distributing in Le Mars. He then owned and operated Denny's Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in Le Mars for several years. He then went to work for Plymouth County Secondary Roads, spending most of his time there as the bridge foreman until his retirement. Following retirement, he continued working part time in refrigeration and air conditioning.

Dennis attended Rejoice! Community Church in Le Mars. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting. He tried his hand at woodworking projects such as birdhouses and planters.  He and Pat enjoyed taking many trips to Oregon and Minnesota to visit their children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, LeAnn (Russ) Hobson of Le Mars, and their children: Brent (Amy) Hobson of Sioux City, and their children, Alex and Brody; and Kassie (Ben) Kleinhesslink of Le Mars, and their son, Harrison; a daughter, Stacy (Mark) DeLong of Baker City, OR, and their children: Ethan (Abby) DeLong of Baker City, OR, and their children, Raiden and Jade; and Dillon DeLong of Baker City, OR; a son, Ted (Cari) Masuen of Lakeville, MN, and their children: Alyssa (Nathan) Denney of Sacramento, CA, and their children, Hailey and Tyler; Morgen (Veniamin) Shchegolev of Minnetonka, MN; and Camille Masuen of Lakeville, MN; his sister, Patricia Ruba of Sergeant Bluff, IA; and several other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Edith Masuen; his father and mother-in-law, Theodore and Minnie Ruether; his wife, Patricia Masuen; his brother, Roger Masuen; brother in law, Jerry Ruba; brother in law and sister in law, Marlin & Delores Grosenheider.
