Donald Lee Cook, 69 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at his home.

His family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Donald Lee Cook was born on March 13, 1956 in Sioux City, Iowa to Donald and Rose (White) Cook. He was raised in Sioux City and their family later moved to Arizona. Don joined the United States Navy in 1974; he was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on February 14, 1978.

Don's work history included roofing as well as apartment management and maintenance.

Don moved from Arizona, Colorado, Utah and then back to Iowa. Don was united in marriage to Donna Plate on November 25, 2016 in South Sioux City, NE. They lived in Smithland, IA, and Sioux City, IA before moving to Le Mars in 2025.

Don enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Don is survived by his wife, Donna; six children: Marie Pickett and her family, Stefannie Crabb and her family, Delta Christopherson and her family, Terrance Herman and his family, Danielle Kass and her family, and Desirae Herman and her family; mother in law, Doretha Plate; and other extended relatives.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Rose Cook; his daughter, Brendin; brothers: Paul and Johnny; and father in law, Donald Lee Plate.
