Donald Raymond Feauto was born October 10, 1955 in Hawarden, IA to Vince and Rose (Beeck) Feauto. He was raised in the Akron area and graduated from Akron High School in 1973. Don's parents and family lived on two different farms in Iowa before moving to what became the family farm seven miles west of Akron in South Dakota. When not helping to run the farm, he participated in sports, FFA and drama. Upon graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Army. Don took his basic training in Fort Polk, LA. He trained as a medic and his unit was in preparation for deployment to Vietnam. At the last minute his orders were changed and he was stationed in Germany. After his service he returned to the Akron area. Don was a very patriotic man and loved his country deeply. Being one who always stayed up with politics Don couldn't help but talk about current affairs with many of his friends and family.
Many years ago, he met and fell in love with Debbie Grasz. They were married in 1980 and spent only 41 years together. It seems too few and too early to say goodbye. When they were young and so full of excitement for the future they ventured out to make their way in the world and build a life together. After several decades plus of helping people realize their dreams of home ownership Don retired and moved to Sioux Falls to be near family.
Don was an avid hunter and golfer, he also loved to play guitar. He treasured family and friends, particularly his grandchildren. Don has a special way of connecting with animals, most recently his dogs Blue and Katie. He loved going to the cabin in Yankton. Don never met a stranger that wasn't quickly a friend.
He is survived by his wife, Deb Feauto of Sioux Falls; sons, Lee (Nicole) Harding and their daughters, Ava and Rory Harding, and son, Gift Harding; son, Ryan Feauto; and mother-in-law, Sally Grasz all of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers, Jim Feauto of Akron, IA, Kevin (Norma) Feauto of Orlando, FL, and Bob (Tami) Feauto of Garretson, SD; beloved nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Vince and Rose Feauto; and father-in-law, Norman Grasz.
