Donna (Gotto) Hoffman, 76, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Reverend Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass. Social distancing and wearing a mask are required at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation with the family will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, May 3, 2021 all at Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars.

Donna Mae Gotto was born on November 27, 1944 in Le Mars, Iowa to Benedict 'Ben' and Loretta (McDermott) Gotto. Their family moved to several communities in Western Iowa before settling back in Le Mars. Donna attended several different country schools and then attended Gehlen Catholic School in Le Mars. At a young age, she began working at Dornick Mink Farm as well as helping her father on the farm. She also worked at Lally's Eastside in Le Mars and the Golden Pheasant in Remsen.
On July 25, 1970 Donna was united in marriage to Charles Andrew Hoffman. Charles passed away on January 31, 1978.
Donna raised her five children while also working various jobs. She did metal scrapping and other labor-intensive jobs; she was a hard worker with a knack for fixing and repairing just about anything. Donna also often babysat for her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren which she loved!
Donna loved to be outdoors; she enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, canning, and taking care of her chickens. She enjoyed camping, pontoon boat rides, and going to county fairs. Her favorite time was spent with her family: she loved supporting the 'HDC', the Hoffman Derby Crew which included her son and grandsons, at demolition derbies and their annual family 4 th of July party in Storm Lake. Donna traveled to visit her daughter, Holly, in North Carolina where she loved being on the beach. They took many trips together to the mountains in North Carolina as well as Las Vegas, New Jersey, New York City, and Florida. Donna also loved to dance!
Donna will be remembered as a wonderful mother and a great listener; her daughter Tiereny could always count on Donna to share a toddy and a good conversation.
Donna was a long-time member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars and was a member of the Le Mars Eagle's Club.
Donna is survived by her children: Kim (Ken) Wescott of Sioux City, Iowa, Brenda Albers of Storm Lake, Iowa, Tiereny (Jerry) Morton of Calumet, Iowa, Charles Jr (Sandra) Hoffman of Le Mars, and Holly (Felix) Jimenez of Charlotte, North Carolina; 23 grandchildren: Stefanie, Andrew, Ben, Kimberly, Jacquelyn, Rachel, Amber, Kaylee, Kyle, Samantha, Travis, Ashley, Cassandra, Trenton, Kristie Anna, Tamara, Tyler, Nickolas, Austin, Allie, Maritza, Victoria, and Kevin; 22 great grandchildren; sisters: Karen Hagar of Le Mars, Iowa, Marlene (Mike) Gengler of Le Mars, Iowa, Jo Ellen (Larry) Mullally of Marcus, Iowa, Patricia (Tom) Mullally of Le Mars, and Vicki (Jeff) Lamp of Le Mars, Iowa; her beloved dog, Magic; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents; parents in law, Bert and Mary Ellen (Faust) Hoffman; husband, Charles; sister, Linda Hemmelrick; brother, Lawrence 'Buzz' Gotto; and great nephew, Conner Weiland.
