Dorothy Trobaugh , 94, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Reverend Dr. Michel Lundula of the United Methodist Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home and following the service during a time of lunch and fellowship at the funeral home. Dorothy Ann Downing was born March 12, 1925 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer LeRoy and Frieda Otilda (Tanner) Downing. She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1943. Following high school, she worked as a bookkeeper for Long's Grocery in Le Mars.

She was united in marriage to John Trobaugh on June 16, 1946 at the First United Methodist Church in Le Mars. Early on, Dorothy was a homemaker for her family. After her children were older, she went to work part time at JCPenney's in Le Mars. John passed away on December 13, 2006. Dorothy continued to make her home in Le Mars. In 2015, she moved to Bickford Cottage in Sioux City to be closer to family. In June of 2019, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.

Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church of Le Mars where she was active for many years in the U.M.C.W. Dorothy and John volunteered for many years with "Meals on Wheels" and with the Le Mars Senior Center. They also enjoyed traveling and attending their grandsons' events. Dorothy was also a member of the Good Neighbor Club. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her family.

Survivors include a daughter: Pat (Glen) Kruse of Sioux City, Iowa; a son: Mark Trobaugh of Le Mars, Iowa; 2 grandsons: Justin (Jodee) Kruse of Houston, Texas, and their daughters, Kami and Karli, and Kevin Kruse of Sioux City, Iowa; her sister: Evelyn Kallsen of Le Mars, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Frieda Downing; her husband, John Trobaugh; her son, Tom Trobaugh; her sisters: Betty (Carl) Ahrendt, Virginia (John) Brangwin, and Joyce (Stan) Nervig; and a brother in law, Lloyd Kallsen.
