Duane John De Raad

Duane John De Raad, 76 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa. Burial with military honors will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 5:30 p.m., with a time of Memory Sharing at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Duane John De Raad was born on September 4, 1949 in Le Mars, Iowa to Vernon and Agnes (Ruba) De Raad. He graduated from Remsen Union High School and continued his education in Omaha in a mechanic program. Duane then enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged after seven years of service.

Duane was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jan Reistroffer, on September 26, 1970.

Duane worked as a mechanic and farmer while also working for Wells Blue Bunny for 20 years.

Duane loved being a dad and playing with his grandchildren. Duane loved spending time outdoors, hunting and backpacking. He also enjoyed tinkering around in his shop, reloading shells, and riding his side-by-side around the acreage. He also volunteered at the soup kitchen.

Duane is survived by his wife, Jan De Raad; four children: Shannon De Raad, Stephenie (John) Antonelli, Don (Carmen) De Raad, and Terra (Bruce) Martens; eight grandchildren: Kristen, Erin, Ayden, Olivia, Emily, Kannan, Libertee, and Emma; four siblings: Diane (Curt) Rasmussen, Betty (Rich) Benson, Mark (Nancy) De Raad, and Faye (Bryon) Jelken; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Agnes (Ruba) De Raad.
