Duane Allan Leekley was born in Sioux City, Iowa on May 9, 1956 to Dale and Corrine (Dickman) Leekley. Duane was the oldest boy and one of 11 children in his family; he began working alongside his father on the farm at a very young age. Their family lived around Woodbury County for several years before making their home in Kingsley, Iowa. Duane continued farming with his father, but he also began working at Davey's and Jim's Feedstore in Moville, Iowa. Duane graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1975.

On April 22, 1978, Duane was united in marriage to Jodie E. Harrison at the Methodist Church in Kingsley. They made their home on a farm in rural Westfield, Iowa and have lived there for 45 years.

Duane was a life-long farmer; he grew crops and raised livestock. Duane also kept busy with several other jobs: working in a meat packing plant, managing hog barns, and shearing sheep. Duane was never idle and loved spending his time outdoors. He was the first to help a neighbor or local farmer and he always enjoyed spending time at the sale barns and auctions. Duane also enjoyed watching old country westerns and spending time grilling and smoking on his Traeger grill.

Duane's favorite time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. They took a memorable family trip to Colorado together after his ALS diagnosis. Duane will be remembered for his positive attitude and comical behaviors; he will be greatly missed.

Duane is survived by his wife, Jodie Leekley; daughter, Marie (Dustin) Jorgensen of Akron, Iowa; three grandchildren: Zach Leekley of Vermillion, SD, Alyssa Musel of Akron, IA, and Hunter Jorgensen of Akron, IA; his mother, Corrine Leekley; 9 siblings: Susan (Gordon) Bubke, Donna (Bill) Garvey, Joe (Julie) Leekley, Bill Leekley, Joan (Brad) Collins, Carol (Doug) Wagner, Janet (Shawn) Schreiber, Lisa (Mike) Burr, and Robert (Nikki) Leekley; brother in law, Lynn Hamil; mother in law, Joyce Harrison of Sioux City, Iowa; 9 siblings in law: Susan (Dean) Dyke, Kathy (Chuck) Sherwood, Vicky Schuldt, Jack (Rita) Harrison, Cindy (Roy) Auen, Sherri Harrison, Laurie Mitchell, Tracy (Mike) Kerns, and Tammi Harrison; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended relatives.

Duane is preceded in death by his father, Dale Leekley; father in law, Nolan Harrison; sister, Lori Hamil; nephew, Andrew Schreiber; and niece, Shanda Riordan.
