Dylan DeRocher, 19, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at his home in Le Mars following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Douglas Klein will celebrate Mass. Father Bruce Lawler will concelebrate.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church. There will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made to the Dylan DeRocher Scholarship Fund, in care of the family.

Dylan Christopher DeRocher, the son of Chris and Lisa (Shea) DeRocher, was born on April 26, 2004, in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School with the Class of 2023. While in school, Dylan was active in wrestling, football, and soccer. He also served on student council.

At an early age, Dylan began helping his father with the family business running the excavator by age 5. He loved spending time at Lake Okoboji. He enjoyed working for Okoboji Boat Works during the summer of 2022.

Dylan was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars where he taught CCD for a couple of years. Wrestling was Dylan's favorite sport. He spent many weekends growing up wrestling at various tournaments with the LeMars Wrestling Club. He was a member of Team Iowa that traveled to Kentucky and Tennessee where he earned All American Honors for his accomplishments. He enjoyed fishing, wake surfing and snowboarding. He was most proud of his role as godfather to his godson Isaac.

During his Freshman year he was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma when doctors found a tumor wrapped around his spine. He was told he would never wrestle again. His determination proved them wrong. He beat the cancer and went on to wrestle his Junior and Senior years. During his Senior season, he was diagnosed with leukemia. He put up one heck of a fight through it all and was a strong advocate for himself to the end. He will be remembered for his fighting spirit, a smile that could light up a room, and someone always up for a good time.

Survivors include his parents, Chris and Lisa DeRocher of Le Mars; his siblings: Makenzie DeRocher, Brooklyn DeRocher, and Drake DeRocher, all at home; maternal grandparents, Mike and Donna Shea of Le Mars; paternal grandparents, Karen and Ken Nelson of Le Mars and Pat and Cyndi DeRocher of Anthon, IA; his aunts and uncles: Kristin (Sean) Donahue of Huntsville, AL, Kevin (Tera) Shea of Coralville, IA, Jenny (Matt) Schaefer of North English, IA, Sarah (Bruce) Phillips of Eden Prairie, MN, Matt DeRocher (Sophie Dufour) of Atlanta, GA, Phil (Vanessa) DeRocher of Lee's Summit, MO, Christina (Steve) Engstran of White Bear Lake, MN, Jacque (Jeff) Norris of Alexander, VA, and Scott Nelson of Iowa City, IA;  and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Roman and Vivian Shea and Ray and Frances O'Kane; and his paternal great grandparents, Eldon and Mildred Ruden and Robert and Bonnie DeRocher.
