Edward J. Terpstra, 77 of Westfield, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's Downtown Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.
A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will begin at 1:00 p.m on Thursday at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron and will continue until the service time. Friends are welcome to and encouraged to ride their motorcycles for Ed's services.

Edward James Terpstra was born on January 15, 1948 in Hudson, SD to Clarence and Lyta (Groenwig) Terpstra. Their family moved to an acreage just west of Hawarden, IA into South Dakota. Ed went to local country school and later attended West Sioux High School in Hawarden. Ed then went to work for John Harmelink building concrete silos around the Midwest.
Ed was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lisbeth 'Beth' Blake, on February 6, 1972 in rural Akron, SD. They first lived in Hawarden, then Sioux City, and finally made their home in Westfield, IA. Ed also worked at a packing plant for a few years before beginning a 30 year career in welding. He enjoyed his work and made great friends with his coworkers.
Ed bought his first motorcycle at 27 years old and had been an avid rider ever. He and Beth took many trips and went to the Sturgis Rally every year. He was a lifetime member of ABATE and enjoyed going to their freedom rallies. His favorite time was riding motorcycles with his sons. Ed had a great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing his close friends.
Ed is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beth; son, Scott (Gina) Terpstra of Akron; three grandchildren: Jack Terpstra of Akron, Drake Terpstra of Bellevue, NE, and Aryana Terpstra of Bellevue, NE; siblings: Randy (Linda) Terpstra, Duane 'Art' (Leah) Terpstra, Sherri Peters, Marlys (Denny) Thompson, and Connie Vogeli; brothers in law: Wayne (Gina) Blake and Bob Pies; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents; parents in law, Kenneth and Helen (Determann) Blake; son, Juston Terpstra; and siblings in law: Terry Peters and Carol Pies.
