Errol Wayne Kehrberg, 78, of Boardman, OH, died peacefully on Friday, May  7, 2021, at Beeghly Oaks Skilled Nursing Center in Boardman.

Errol was born on December 14, 1942, to Verl and Lillian Woodward Kehrberg of Kingsley, IA. He graduated from Kingsley High School in 1961 with honors. Errol was very talented in music and received an academic scholarship, as well as a music scholarship, to attend Drake University in Des Moines, IA.   He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1965 and his Master's in Music Education in 1966. Errol taught all 12 grades music in the Green Mountain School District until he enlisted in the Navy in 1968. He served for four years, including a stint on the USS Coral Seas aircraft carrier during the Vietnam Conflict, and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1972. Errol wanted to resume teaching and accepted a position with the Boardman High School in Boardman, OH.  He taught Choral Music there for over forty years.  He was also their musical director of many musical productions; and even after his retirement from teaching, he was asked to come back every season to teach the vocal students the music for their musical productions.  He mentored his high school students and helped many of them to achieve successful careers in the musical world. Former students would come back to see the productions, and they would find Errol and come to him and say, "Hi "Kerby! How are you?"  They never forgot him. Errol was the Music Director and Organist at Poland Presbyterian Church in Poland, OH, for over 35 years.

He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia professional music fraternity, and a member of the American Choral Directors Association.  He was a valued member of the Scottish Terriers Club of Northern Ohio, and was a member of the Boardman Kiwanis Club for many years.

Errol is survived by his sister, Linda Kehrberg Smith and her husband Dennis Smith of Le Mars, IA; his niece, Kim Smith Spier and her husband, Russell Spier of Hartley, IA; his nephew, Tait Smith and his wife, Elizabeth Korda Smith of Woodland Hills, CA; and longtime friend and caregiver, Larry Harris of Youngstown, OH.

Errol was preceded in death by his parents.
