Ethel M. Renken , 85, of Le Mars, received her Angel Wings on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2020 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Reverend Chris Meier will officiate. The public is invited to attend, social distancing and wearing a mask required. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Social distancing and wearing a mask required. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Ethel was born on October 2, 1934 to Otto and Maggie (Blackmore) Schultz. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

Ethel married Marvin C. Renken on April 19, 1954 in Le Mars, Iowa. The couple farmed until 1966 when they moved to Le Mars. Ethel went to school to become a CNA and began work at Floyd Valley Hospital. She also worked at Indian Hills Care Center and retired from St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City.

Ethel enjoyed playing cards, going to Bible study, and going to the senior center for coffee and activities. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Grateful to have been a part of her life are her children Connie and Glenn Kellen of Le Mars, Nancy Scholten of Alton, Julie and Eric Athens of Le Mars, Joyce and Ryan Barents of Ireton and Keith and Angie Renken of Remsen.

Grandchildren, Katie and Chris Gerloff and their children Colten, Caleb, Kayla, and Kali; Codie and Emily Kellen and their children Norah and Eleanor; Kurt Kellen (Brittany Ruden); Nicole Bylsma and her children Caleb, Bella, and Kinley; Allison and Dustin Gollhofer and their children Serena, Scarlett, and Zeke; Halle Athens and daughter Zyra; Cassie Renken; Phillip Renken; and Rachael Renken.

She was met in heaven by her husband Marvin; infant son Terry; son-in-law Steve Scholten; grandson Alex Renken; great grandson Oliver Kellen; her parents Otto and Maggie Schultz; mother and father-in-law Herman C and Anna M (Brabander) Renken; her twin sister Edith Johnson; three sisters-in-law, Louise Beitelspacher, Florence Utech, Viola Tammen; and five brothers- in-law, George, Herman (Butch), Lawrence, Raymond, and Lester.
