Eugene Kipp, 89 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at his home in Le Mars.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars with Reverend Doug Klein officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars with Military Honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post 241. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. followed immediately by a Knights of Columbus Rosary all on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Eugene 'Gene' John Kipp was born October 29, 1934 on his family farm in Mapleton, Iowa to Gustav and Magdelena (Flammang) Kipp. Their family moved to rural Le Mars when Gene was six and he attended a local country school. Their family then moved to Le Mars where Gene graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1953. Shortly after graduating, Gene enlisted in the Army National Guard and was later honorably discharged. Gene was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kathleen Schmid, on August 12, 1961 at Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill, Iowa. They made their home in Le Mars for a few years before moving to their acreage just outside of town.

Due to his outgoing personality, Gene quickly found a passion for working as a salesman. His work history included several sales positions in the Le Mars area, primarily in the agricultural industry. Known as a hard worker, he officially retired in August of 2023. Gene was a long-time member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Wasmer American Legion in Le Mars. He was known for his quick, wonderful sense of humor, and a smile that could make anyone feel welcomed.

Gene and Kathleen, also known as 'Poppy and Mia' to their three grandchildren, loved to spend their summers making memories, which included fishing, frequent field trips and adventures, and attending the Plymouth County Fair. Gene was also their biggest supporter at school sporting events and extracurricular activities. Other hobbies included watching and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers, bird watching, and serving as grill master for various gatherings.

Gene is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen; three children: Amy Halverson of the Quad Cities, Lisa Kipp of the Quad Cities, and Nick (Heidi) Kipp of Sioux City; three grandchildren: Joe Kipp of Iowa City, Max (Amani) Mayer of the Quad Cities, and Madeline Kipp of Sioux City; great granddaughter, Alivia Mayer; sisters: Anna Mae Sitzmann of Le Mars, Audra Moir of Le Mars, and Kay Black of Phoenix, Arizona; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Lena; son in law, Dave 'Halvy' Halverson; brothers in law: Richard Moir and Mike Black.
