Obituary

Evon "Vonnie" Anthony , 100, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. James Church in Le Mars.  Reverend Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.  Visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Memorials can be made in Vonnie's name to the Christian Needs Center or to a charity of your choice.

Evon Marie Uhl was born February 23, 1921 in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse T. and Margaret (Schoening) Uhl.  She attended school in Mapleton and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1939.

She was united in marriage to Elmer Anthony on August 21, 1945 at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.  Vonnie worked for various businesses in the area.  Vonnie's favorite role was that of wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Elmer passed away on August 1, 1991.

Vonnie was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars.  Her focus was always on the activities of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family and friends.  She was fortunate to be able to live in her own home, drive her car, and loved volunteering at the Christian Needs Center in Le Mars up to 99 years of age.  She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her 5 children: Mary Ellen (Jim) Rohlfs of Le Mars, Mike (Rose) Anthony of Le Mars, Nick Anthony of Le Mars, Bill (Karla) Anthony of Le Mars, and Tim (Sharon) Anthony of Le Mars; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse T. and Margaret Uhl; her husband, Elmer Anthony; 2 sisters: Beulah "Boots" (Wilbur) Kurth and Orle (Joe) Kurth; and a grandson, Mick Anthony.
