Florence Schroeder , 96, of Remsen, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at MercyOne in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mass of Christian of Burial will be Friday, December 13, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hinton, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Florence Darlene Vondrak was born on May 21, 1923 to Frank and Gertrude (Muir) Vondrak in Perry Township, Plymouth County, Iowa. Florence was raised in Perry Township on the family farm. She was baptized on June 3, 1923 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City and attended a one room schoolhouse in Perry Township. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1940.
Florence was united in marriage to Lloyd Casper on February 22, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Hinton, Iowa. They made their home on Lloyd's family farm. Florence became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was for 37 years. There she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was a member of the ladies' aide. Lloyd passed away on September 22, 1970 in a farm accident. On December 30, 1978, Florence was united in marriage to Ray Schroeder at Neptune Catholic Church in rural Hinton. They made their home in Remsen. Florence then became a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; she was a member of Catholic Daughters and St. Mary's Guild. She also was a member of Lady Forester. Ray passed away on April 19, 2001.
Florence is survived by her children: Lanny (Jo Ann) Casper, Douglas (Jeanette) Casper, and Rhonda (Bruce) Hageman all of rural Hinton; 8 grandchildren: Karri (Chuck), Katie, Joe (Rachel), David (Kasia), Mike, Mary (Chris), Shari, and Kris (Shannon); 19 great grandchildren: Kylie (Eric), C.J., Thomas, Brady (Sadie), Brooke, Shyanne, Sienna, Jayce, Jayla, Micah, Kiana, Gavin, Kage, Harrison, Sydney, Samuel, Eleanor, Spencer and Pypr; 1 brother, Phil of Sioux City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Casper; husband, Ray Schroeder; her parents; 6 brothers; and 4 sisters.
