Frederick "Fred" Haring Jr. , 81, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Chaplain Richard Cogan from St. Croix Hospice will officiate. Private family interment with military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post 241 of Le Mars will be at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Frederick George Haring Jr., the son of Frederick Sr. and Fern (Bush) Haring, was born on November 23, 1941 in Lawton, Iowa. Early on, he moved with his family to Le Mars. He attended country school in Plymouth County and later graduated from Le Mars Central High School.

He enlisted in the United States Army in October of 1964. He was stationed stateside, working in the separation department in Oakland, California. He was honorably discharged on December 15, 1965. Following his discharge, he returned to Le Mars.

He was united in marriage to RoseAnn Kurtzhals on December 18, 1965. They later divorced.

Fred worked for Standard Oil in Le Mars for several years before going to work for Bonderson Auto Supply in Le Mars. Fred worked as a machinist for them until his retirement in 1999. Following his retirement, he worked part-time mowing for the City of Le Mars.

Fred was a member of the Wasmer American Legion Post 241 of Le Mars. He enjoyed tinkering with just about anything, especially tractors. He loved horses. He enjoyed horseback riding and attending horse shows. He also enjoyed fishing with the Beitelspacher family at Lake Okoboji. He also enjoyed taking "Sunday Trips" with Homer Dumas and Jerome Dreckman.

Survivors include his sister, Betty (Lyle) Scheitler of Oyens, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Sr. and Fern Haring; and his siblings: Wynola Kroepel, Gene Haring, and Roger Haring.
