After a courageous fight with cancer, Gail Dean Port passed away on June 28, 2024 in Denver, CO.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Riverside Cemetery in Akron, IA.

Gail was born on March 11, 1960 in Akron, IA, the son of Daryl Norman Port and Joyce Ellen (Neunaber) Port.

Gail graduated from Akron High School in 1978. He attended Walford College and finished his degree at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD in May of 1982. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology with minors in mathematics and data processing. He moved to Colorado in the fall of 1982 and attend Computer Sharing Services (a subsidiary of McDonnel Douglas) in Englewood, CO where he graduated with an advanced degree in Advanced Business and Programming Technologies in August 1983. He was most recently employed by Charter Communications.

Gail enjoyed being outdoors and participating in many sports. He enjoyed hunting from a very young age and you could usually find him out in the wood hunting deer, coyote, pheasants, and the list grew to include elk once he moved to Colorado.

Gail was an avid bowler. His passion for the sport started at a young age in Akron and floured to many 300 games in Colorado. If you could not get ahold of him after work, he would either be bowling or playing softball.

Gail leaves behind two brothers: Gordon (Nancy) Port and Gary Port; three nephews: Casey (Rachel) Port, Derek (Keri) Port, and Aaron (Lynne) Port; five great nieces and a great nephew: Ashton, Quinn, Evey, Payton, Madeline, and Maxwell; four cousins; and many bowling and softball friends.
