Obituary

Gary Mishler, 74 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Unity Point Health in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars with Pastor Jan Christensen officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Gary Allan Mishler was born on March 2, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa to Donald and Joanne (Deming) Mishler. Gary was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1968. Gary was united in marriage to Virginia Grauer and they had four daughters: Michelle, Amy, Kristi, and Becky. They later divorced.

Gary worked a variety of sales positions but was primarily employed at Curtis 1000 for over 20 years. He retired in 2019 due to his health.

Gary was united in marriage to Janice Verrips on October 12, 1993 in Las Vegas. Gary and Jan made their home in Le Mars and this marriage brought four more daughters to Gary's life: Kim, Sherry, Amy, and Krista.

Gary enjoyed playing golf and cards, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and reading. Gary and Jan enjoyed coffee with their friends at Bellissimo Coffeeworks and going dancing at Stormin' Norman's dance hall.  They also enjoyed traveling and took many trips for Gary's work.

Gary's favorite time was spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren; he loved going to all their school and sporting events. Gary will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and generous man. He loved to be social and had a great sense of humor.

Gary is survived by his wife of nearly 32 years, Jan; daughters: Michelle Haines, Amy Westbrook, Kristi Mishler, Becky Mishler, Kim (Kirk) Holzman, Sherry (Dan) Nacke, Amy Hicks, and Krista (Ousmane) Karama; eighteen grandchildren: Justus, Kelsey, Riley, Jack, Adam, Emaya, Alexys, Mason, Tyler, Josie, Jasmine, Kyle (Cayen), Kaylee, Mikayla (Brady), Haley (Matt), Sanata, Jaiden, and Dawsen; fourteen great grandchildren; sister, Karen (Dave) Allen; brother in law, Thor (Pat) Verrips; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Joanne Mishler; parents in law, Gradus and Josephine (Abma) Verrips; and grandson in law, Jacquane Carter.
