Geraldine "Gerri" Wieck, 102, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Hinton, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Al Nordsiden will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Merrill, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 am until service time and following the service during a time of lunch and fellowship, all at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made to St. Croix Hospice and Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.
Geraldine Louise Trometer, the daughter of Peter and Louise (Kamm) Trometer, was born on April 4, 1924, in Plymouth County, Iowa. She grew up on a farm in Plymouth County, Iowa, and attended country school.
She was united in marriage to Lloyd Wieck on April 2, 1943, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Gerri and Lloyd farmed and raised cattle and hogs on the family farm. Gerri was also a homemaker for her family. In 1975, they moved to Hinton. She began working at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City in food service and laundry. She worked there until her retirement. In 2010, they moved to Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City. Lloyd passed away on June 16, 2012.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Merrill. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking. Her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them at family gatherings and during the holidays.
Survivors include her son, Ron Wieck (Beth Westpfahl) of Sioux City, IA; a daughter in law, Donna (Darwin) Dirks of Sioux City, IA; 3 grandchildren: Todd (Tammy) Wieck of Lawton, IA, Scott (Mimi) Wieck of Sioux City, IA, and Amy (Dave) Gammel of Lincoln, NE; 6 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; sister in law, Pat Trometer of Merrill, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Louise Trometer; her father and mother in law, Henry and Jessie Wieck; her husband, Lloyd Wieck; her son, Roger Wieck; her daughter in law, Carol Wieck; her brother, Robert Trometer; two sisters, Georgana (Lawrence) Blackmore and Darlene (Walter) Roehrich; and a brother in law, Raymond (Betty) Wieck.
