Harlyn Dewey, 82 of Westfield, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 28, 2021 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. A private burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Harlyn Orr Dewey was born on June 5, 1939 to Lester and Amelia (Theil) Dewey in Akron, IA. Harlyn attended and graduated from Westfield High School in 1957. He then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD. Harlyn worked as a machinist at Sioux Tools in Sioux City, IA for forty years before retiring.

Harlyn enjoyed collecting Lionel trains. He kept busy with many projects on his acreage including yard work and taking care of several cats: Boots, Tiger, and Midnight. He also enjoyed antiquing and for many years belonged to a square dancing club. His favorite time was spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Harlyn is survived by his son, James Harlyn (Lisa) Dewey of Sioux Falls, SD and children: Joseph Schermer of Colorado Springs, CO, Connor Dewey of Sioux Falls, SD, Ian Dewey of Sioux Falls, SD, and Faith Dewey of Medical Lake, WA; daughter, Ranae (Steve) Housley of Hot Springs, SD and children: Nicole Badgerow, Kayla Badgerow, and Bret Badgerow all of Kingsley, IA; three great grandchildren: Max and Reya Dewey and Brady Badgerow; sister, Eileen Franklin of New Port Richey, FL; step children: Tina Kanaby, Tamara Rolling, Sheryl Douglas, and Steven Williams; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Harlyn is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barb Dewey; grandson, Kyle Badgerow; siblings: Harvey (Marie) Dewey, Mahlon (Blance) Dewey, Duane (Dorothy) Dewey, and Gene (Leone) Dewey; siblings in law: Jerry Schnee and Laurel Franklin.
