Helen Lueders, 96, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Emerson, Nebraska, was greeted into eternal life by her son Dan, Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emerson, Nebraska. A Memorial Visitation with the family present will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will continue until service time. Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pender, Nebraska will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars, Iowa.

Helen Lea Lewin was born on July 30, 1926 to Charles and Leola (Walters) Lewin in Pender, Nebraska. She graduated from Thurston High School in 1943 and received her teaching license from Wayne State Teachers College one year later. She then taught school for three years.

Helen was united in marriage to Glen Lueders on May 28, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Thurston, Nebraska. They lived made their home on the farm in 1946. In 1990, they retired from farming and moved onto an acreage just south of the farm.

Helen was a member of the Kenneth P. Lewin Legion Auxiliary in Thurston, Nebraska and a member of the Sunshine Social Club for 68 years. Helen was very artistic: she enjoyed creating art work, hand work embroidery, crocheting, china painting and ostrich egg painting. She started a business in 1972 called Helen's Ceramics where she held classes in her basement and retired in 2008 after 35 years. Helen taught Sunday School for 25 years and was the secretary for country school District 15 for many years. She also volunteered as a poll worker for many years for Nebraska elections. She enjoyed traveling with Glen; going south in the winter to New Mexico and going north to Minnesota in the summer. She enjoyed playing cards and going to garage sales.

Helen is survived by her husband of 76 years, Glen; three children: Dale (Paula) Lueders of Lincoln, NE, Donna (Bob) O'Neill of Le Mars, IA, and Denis (Janeen) Lueders of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter in law, Vel Lueders of Columbus, NE; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; her sister, Kay (Dick) Miller of Lincoln, NE; many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; son, Danial Lueders; four brothers: Bob (Doreen), Kenny, Harold (Alice), and Paul (Jean); and sister, Mary Belle (Gene) Sebade.
