Helen Buchholz, 73, of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Celebration of Life will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Westfield Community Center in Westfield, Iowa. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Helen Ann Martin, the daughter of Thomas L. and Jeanine (Neal) Martin, was born on February 11, 1953, in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended school in Westfield and graduated from Westfield High School in 1971. While in high school, she played on the basketball and softball teams. She then attended Sioux Empire College in Hawarden.

She married Tom Buchholz. To this union, a daughter, Brandi was born. They later divorced. She met Tom Baker. They were together for over 30 years before he passed away.

Helen worked for I.B.P. for a few years before going to work for the United States Postal Service. She worked for the postal service for over 30 years until her retirement.

She was an avid sports fan. She loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She also enjoyed going to watch racing at Interstate Speedway in Jefferson, South Dakota.

Survivors include her daughter, Brandi; two granddaughters, Lindsay and Brianna; stepchildren, Robert Baker, Alan Baker, and Bradley Baker; her siblings: Tom (Sylvia) Martin of Amissville, VA, John (Corinne) Martin of Westfield, IA, Paul Martin (Tiffany) of Westfield, IA, and Michael Martin of Akron, IA; two brothers in law, Keith Baker and Dale Moss Sr; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Baker; and her sister, Dea Moss.
