Helen Mayrose , 97, of Le Mars, IA passed away on December 12, 2019 at Accura HealthCare of Le Mars.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Reverend Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2019 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
Helen was born on August 13 th , 1922 in Inwood, IA to Hugo and Myrtle (Stoup) Reimers and raised by her aunt and uncle, Larry and Amanda McGill. Helen was united in marriage to Francis (Fritz) Mayrose on April 22 nd , 1941 . Francis passed away on March 3 rd , 1979. To this union, 10 children were born.
Helen was an avid blood donor and volunteer to the Siouxland Blood Bank and embroiderer for the Floyd Valley Hospital gift shop. She was involved in Catholic Daughters, Floyd Valley Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her interests included crossword puzzles, Blue Bunny ice cream taste testing, embroidery, and volunteering. She was most known for her chocolate chip cookies and her cinnamon rolls.
Helen is survived by her children Diane (Orville) Kenowith of Sioux City, IA, David (Aleta) Mayrose of Keller, TX, Terry (DeEtta) Mayrose of Lincoln, NE, Rick (Anne) Mayrose of Georgetown, TN, Tom (Stacey) Mayrose of Windsor, CO, Michelle (Dan) Ryan of Le Mars, IA, Mark (Deb) Mayrose of Le Mars, IA, Kelli (Chad) Kramer of Le Mars, IA, 18 grandchildren, 14 great grand-children, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents and aunt and uncle, her husband, Francis (Fritz) Mayrose, 2 daughters, Kay and Kim Mayrose, a grandson Jim Mayrose, 2 brothers Fred and Paul Reimers and a sister, Margery Wood.
