Ida Schuette , 87, of Brandon, South Dakota, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Bethany Home in Brandon, South Dakota.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa. Reverend Shawn Brooks will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
Ida Vivian Heeren was born April 12, 1932 on a farm in Grant Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Alma (Jaster) Heeren. She attended country school in Grant Township and later high school in Le Mars where she graduated from Le Mars Central High School.
She was united in marriage to Dale Schuette on May 29, 1956 at Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township. The couple farmed in Grant Township for many years. Ida was also a homemaker for her family. Later on, she worked as the custodian for Christ Lutheran Church for over 25 years. Dale passed away December 12, 1994. Ida continued to make her home on the farm until moving to Le Mars in 2007. In 2015, she moved to Sioux Fall, South Dakota to live with her daughter. Later, she became a resident of the Bethany Home in Brandon, South Dakota.
Ida was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township where she was active in the Church Circle for many years. When she was in high school, she enjoyed acrylic painting and drawing. In later years she enjoyed golfing and playing cards, especially pinochle. She was active in many card clubs. While on the farm, she tended to her flower and vegetable gardens every year and canning much of her produce. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting. One of her greatest joys was traveling to see her daughter in Arizona every year.
Survivors include her two daughters: Pam (Steve) Riedlinger of Sioux Falls, SD, and Deb (Chris) Bernard of Mesa, AZ; 3 grandchildren: Tanya (William) McVay of Ashland, NE, Matthew (Erin) Riedlinger of Omaha, NE, and Mitchell Riedlinger of Watertown, SD; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters in law: Gladys Heeren of Le Mars, IA, and Lois Heeren of Hawarden, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Alma Heeren; her husband, Dale Schuette; and 3 siblings, Mabel Heeren in infancy, Alvin Heeren, and Norman Heeren.
