James W. Sieverding , 88, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Continental Springs Care Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. James Church in Le Mars . Reverend Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass. Burial with military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post 241 of Le Mars will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars . Visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church . Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa . James Warren Sieverding was born March 21, 1933 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Omer and Anna Laura (Fitzpatrick) Sieverding . He attended West Hall High School and graduated in 1951 . James received a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Connecticut . He later graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1959.

James was a member of the United States Naval Reserves for nine years . He was a radio operator in the reserves and did radio repair while in Milwaukee, Wisconsin . James also owned and operated a leather company in Clearwater, Florida for twelve years . James retired and moved to Le Mars in 1977.

He enjoyed traveling to New Zealand, Ireland, Israel, and India . His hobbies were flying model airplanes, collecting antique tools, motorcycling, and bird watching . James never met a stranger…always had a story to tell . He was an avid member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars .

Survivors include many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Anna Sieverding; and a brother, Richard Sieverding .
