Jane Dalton, 94, of Lakeville, Minnesota, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Highview Hills Senior Living in Lakeville, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Parish - St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Doug Klein will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:15 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. There will be a Parish Rosary at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.

Jane (Mairose) Dalton was born on May 29, 1931, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Philomine (Braun) Mairose. After graduating from St. Joseph Catholic School in Le Mars, she went to St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City. She worked for many years and always thoroughly enjoyed being a nurse.

She married her lifelong love, Don Dalton, on April 21, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. When Don entered the United States Air Force, they lived in the US, England, and Turkey.

Most important to Jane was her faith and her family. She involved herself in different church activities through the years. At Highview, she led the third decade of the rosary every Friday until the first of March of this year. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter. Especially important to her were raising her children and thoroughly enjoying her grandsons. She always made them feel special.

Jane knew she always wanted to be a nurse from a young age when visiting people in the hospital with her mother. That care giving attitude never changed. She always considered her nursing career to be a dream come true.

Her love for children never faded as she made contributions to MercyOne Siouxland Child Advocacy Center, St. Jude Children Hospital, and Gehlen Catholic School STEM program.

She loved singing, sewing, quilting, baking bread, gardening, bird watching (especially wrens), doing puzzles and then beautifully framing them, and traveling in retirement with Don. They explored countries in Europe and Australia. At age 84, she went to WITCC and learned to play mahjong and different card games. She loved socializing with her friends at Highview Hills after moving to Lakeville in 2018.

Highlights for Jane were being the May queen her senior year in high school and being the Parade Marshall for Gehlen Catholic School Homecoming in 2019.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kristie (Kevin) Dunn of Lakeville, MN; her son, Paul Dalton of Le Mars, IA; grandsons: Ben (Whitney) Dunn of Phoenix, AZ, and Kiernan (Taylor) Dalton of Sioux City, IA; two great grandchildren, Harmony and Finley; her brother, Dan (Erma) Mairose; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Dalton; a sister, Mary Anne Schmidt; and many in laws.
